COMMITTEES
Fund Raising Committee
This committee has been active in raising funds for the organization.
Initally monies were raised by the sale of the distinctive T-shirts. Two orders of 500 shirts each.
The Ice Cream Social, 50/50 raffle, silent auction, and the Walk/Race were all very successful.
5K race/walk will complete the activities for this year. Planning will commence for the 2007 year.
Summer of 2007-- Funds are being raised this year for the Ice Cream Social which is being held on Aug. 4th at the Arena. In addition to the ice cream, there will also be a silent auction, a raffle, and the sale of T-shirts. Later in the Fall the group will have another 5K run and walk.
Publicity Committee
This committee accomplished the following:
Had local TV channel's help in initial publicity by
photo-op at the old school with members and childen of the SOS group.
Placed article in the Watertown paper and the local paper publizing the Ice Cream Social.
Developed and delivered flyers to the community publizing the Ice Cream Social.
Had local TV channel at the 5K Race/Walk.
Summer of 2007--A new marque sign was donated and signs have been placed in front of the school indicating volunteer workers. Fliers have been placed throughout the town telling about the Ice Cream Social.
Reading Room Committee
Planning is going forward to establish a Reading Room in the Old School.
Hoping to make tenative plans for space in the schoolhouse for late 2007 or 2008 depending on the completion of the construction and modification work in the School. Plans on hold at the moment.
Historical Society Committee
Had meeting with group from Harrisville outlining methods for
initiating an Historical Society in our area.
Discussed forming a Society with the SOS group with positive results.
Small group planning to get in touch with Albany to
proceed on the formation of an Historical Society for the Fine Area.
Summer of 2007- Small group continuing to pursue the beginnings of a small industrial museum in the school. Local historian, Mrs. Grimm, has assisted in the planning.
Maintenance and Renovation Committee
Meeting with Town Officials to inspect building.
Plan to make disposition of paint in basement.
Hoping to make necessary maintenance and renovations plans in the Spring 2007.
Hope to make limited use of the facility in Summer of 2007 for various projects.
Summer of 2007--Scraping and painting of the exterior taking place this summer. Interior will be completely returned to the original condition. Hope all the work can be completed by the end of the summer so planning can take place for the next year.
Arts and Crafts Committee
Hoping to sponsor a number of Arts and Crafts Shows for Summer 2007.
Awards and prizes would be presented at the end of the Summer. All activities on hold until completion of the building. Making only minor plans at this stage.
